How to Pass the RE5 Exam on Your First Attempt

Most people who fail the RE5 don't fail because the material is too hard. They fail because they studied without a plan, ran out of time, and saw the exam wording for the first time on exam day. A first-time pass is very achievable with roughly four focused weeks and the right approach.

What you're up against

The RE5 is a 50-question multiple-choice exam written in two hours, with a 66% pass mark. It is a regulatory exam, not an academic one: the questions test whether you know what the FAIS Act, the General Code of Conduct and FICA actually require you to do in practice. Representatives are generally expected to pass within 24 months of first appointment.

A realistic 4-week study plan

If you can't study daily, stretch the same four blocks over six or eight weeks — just keep the order. Structure first, high-weight content second, mock exams last.
